Term name
Definition
The full scientific name, with authorship and date information if known. When forming part of an Identification, this should be the name in lowest level taxonomic rank that can be determined. This term should not contain identification qualifications, which should instead be supplied in the IdentificationQualifier term.

Guidelines
- Provide as much information as you can including ranks and authorities where necessary.
- If this term is concatenated from different fields, create a name that is nomenclaturally correct.
- Include rank markers in standardized form (preferred) or in full.
- Provide full names for the authors (according to the code), avoid author abbreviations.[JAM: do we want to say this? abbrevs. are the norm]
- Provide authorship for zero, one, some or all ranks in the name. [JAM: Should we prefer just the lowest rank author?]
- No years (not nomenclaturally correct in Botany)
