The name (or acronym) in use by the institution having custody of the object(s) or information referred to in the record.

Guidelines
Publish the name of the institution having custody of the specimens in institutionCode. This would be the university, museum or other institution with which the herbarium is associated. If the institution is well-known by its acronym, it can be used, although it is generally more informative to use the full name.
If the institution Code is not known or registered with GRBio, then the full name can be recorded in the field "institutionCode". Also note that the institutionCode and the collectionCode are usually the same, but if the Collection is also registered with the Index Herbariorum (IH) then the institutionCode is marked with <IH> (see examples below).
If the institution is registered with the GBIF, you can publish the UUID issued by the Global Biodiversity Resources Discovery System (GBRDS) in institutionID (e.g. "ff7bd5db-b724-4932-b496-10ea298851f9"), even though this ID is currently not resolvable. GBIF is investigating DOIs as a more stable and resolvable identifier. [KCP comment: are we including institution ID in AppleCore? If not then that this last sentence may not apply?]
